At Orana, we recognise the power of meaningful employment.

We understand that for so many a job means much more than financial support but also significant contribution to one’s health, wellbeing and social circumstance. It is with this in mind, that we hold ourselves accountable to strong diversity targets.

In 2016, the unemployment rate for Indigenous people of working age was 18.4 per cent, 2.7 times the non-Indigenous unemployment rate (6.8 per cent). (Australian Bureau of Statistics)

At Orana we are making progressive steps to not only change this statistic, but to pave the way forward for our future leaders to implement positive change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

In 2018, we are proud to report that Orana’s employment rate of Indigenous staff sits at 40 Percent.

Through partnership with local community and government organisations, we have built multiple pathways for growth and mentorship within our business. Our recent alignment with PCYC (Redfern) has allowed us to find opportunities for employment within our business for young Aboriginal members of the community. We pride ourselves on fostering an environment that encourages, welcomes and cultivates diversity.
